A competency management system records what each person in a team can actually do, assessed against a defined competency framework rather than inferred from a job title or a course certificate. Calibrate rates every person across eight areas and forty-four elements on a five-level scale, marks each level as self-assessed or independently validated, and rolls the whole team up into a live skills matrix.
No. Calibrate ships with a ready-made framework so you are not starting from a blank page, but the areas and elements are configurable and you can run your own, or another body's.
Calibrate works perfectly well for an organisation with no connection to IPP at all. The shared structure, a five-level scale and a common CPD and evidence model, is what makes records comparable; the content of the framework is yours.
A spreadsheet records what somebody typed. Calibrate separates what a person claims from what a reviewer has confirmed, and never lets one be presented as the other.
It also maintains itself. CPD logged against a competency updates the record, a passed exam seeds the starting levels, and the heat map reflects it without anybody rebuilding the sheet.
Yes. CPD is logged against the competency it supports rather than in a separate list, so the evidence sits with the claim. Team CPD compliance appears in the team report.
They keep it. The individual competency record is free and owned for life, so it travels with them to their next employer. You keep the seat and reassign it.
